Who knew that June was Spring!!

Remember when I said that we had one week of Spring and then right into summer.   Well,  they do things a little different in Quebec (if you didn't already know that, watch their politics, etc) and the seasons are no different.  We are now in full flung Spring.  Mid 60s to Low 70s with lots of rain.  I LOVE IT!!!!   It is my kind of weather!!

It is so hard when our missionaries leave!!!  Transfers are heart wrenching times.  We get to love them so much, it is like our kids leaving every 6 weeks!!!   This time Elder Blackwelder left to another district in our zone so at least we will get to see him every now and then.  He was replaced by Elder Sorensen from Washington State and this is his first stop from the MTC.

Elder Ritz is a great trainer and they are going to do some great work together. The sisters are really rocking and rolling, they set a goal of 20 lessons a week and they have exceeded their goal!!  way to go sisters!!

My good friend Louise has had some up and downs.  But she gets answers to prayers faster than anyone I know.  She is in the Hospital right now getting both chemo and radiation therapy and her cancer has now metastasized into her shoulders as well, but she seems to be getting stronger and she is her usual  chipper and mood lifting self.  We always come away from our visits with a lighter heart than when we went in.
Here she is with her mom Iréne during better days.  What a team.  They are amazing women.

Elder Pete set a goal a long time ago of joining the local Rotary.  The ward mission plan set the goal of being more involved in the community and he saw this as one way he could help accomplish this.  It has been a very positive experience.  Many of them know about our church and make sure that there are appropriate things for him to drink.  The local Major of the Salvation Army - who is also a member of Rotary -made a point of telling everyone that our church members are GOD'S WORD IN ACTION.  We have a wonderful member - Hans - who is a dedicated volunteer for counseling and and on 24 hour on call for the suicide help line. (Yes, this is the same Hans who just had his 70th birthday!!) The Elders and the Sisters also go there weekly and often bring other members with them.

Back to the weather, here are a couple of pics from the first of the month when our favorite walks along the river were along a gentle river, with fishermen walking in it, and rocks that we could walk out on, I even saved a fish that had got stranded on a sandbar because the water was so low.

Then...  here is the river now after a few weeks of rain storms.  Nothing crazy rain wise..,.  just nice spring rains....  but WOW...  the river has gone nuts!!!

Kim's wish for her 40th birthday was to spend a weekend with her sister.  Just girls.  They had a lot of fun laughing and playing together.  It warms a mom's heart when her girls are such good friends even though they don't get to see each other as much as they want to.

Here are a few of my favorite pics that they sent me.

  2. Bonjour, Dear Friends,
Always enjoy reading your updates and finding out what all you have been up to....busy, busy, busy.
Wish I shared your love for rain, Jan. since we have been home from Calif. And Montana it has rained much more than I like.
We spent several weeks this spring at Darren's amazing property in Yaak, MT. Love it and the people, too. We are preparing to return to Yaak right after my birthday next month for a couple of weeks. Just celebrated Paul's 70th birthday last week. My how time flies.
Had to plant our veggies while home, mostly tomatoes.
Hope this finds you both well, and truly enjoying yourselves even tho I realize you are at work, God's work. 😊
We all send our "aimer" even Millie, our Calif. Girl.
    Au revoir, Verlene and Paul
